The People’s Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City has charged the district’s police with clarifying a case in which a real estate group chairman was accused of beating a caddy of a golf course in Da Nang City, central Vietnam with a club last week.
A leader of the Ngu Hanh Son District authorities told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday that the district is waiting for a report on the case by police officers.
In particular, Nguyen Viet Dung, chairman of Dat Quang Group in Da Nang’s neighborn Quang Nam Province and an incumbent member of the People’s Council of Quang Nam, and his friends came to the BRG Da Nang golf course in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District last week.
L. and another female caddy of the golf course were assigned to serve these customers.
Due to an argument over the number of clubs used in a hole, Dung used the golf club to beat L., making the club break.
L. was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Trinh Minh Duc, chief of the office of the delegation of National Assembly deputies and members of the People’s Council of Quang Nam, said the standing board of the provincial People’s Council has assigned relevant agencies to handle the case in line with the law.
Results of the handling of the case will be provided to news agencies.
Following the case, some golf clubs in Da Nang and other parts of the country have publicized Dung’s information and announced their ostracism of Dung.
They have also called on golf associations and golf courses in the central region and nationwide as a whole to ostracize the man.
According to a leader of the Quang Nam Golf Association, Dung is not a member of the association but has participated in several of its tournaments.
The association’s leader said it is needed to identify the causes of the case, adding that whatever the causes, Dung’s act was wrong.
