One child died and three others were seriously injured after allegedly playing with firecrackers in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on Sunday afternoon, a local official confirmed later the same day.

The deceased victim is B.G.T., 11, and the three injured children are N.M.T., 12, N.D.B., 12, and N.D.B.A., 9, all of whom are still receiving treatment in hospital.

All four children were found severely wounded after nearby residents hear a 'bang' from the house of N.T.T.H. in Buon Trap Town, Krong Ana District, Dak Lak at around 3:00 pm on Sunday.

They were rushed to the Central Highlands General Hospital for emergency treatment, but B.G.T. eventually died from their injuries.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and initially determined that the children were likely playing with firecrackers, which caused the explosion.
