A four-year-old girl accelerated a motorbike stopped by her mother, causing the vehicle to slam into a fence, killing herself, her one-year-old brother and her grandmother, and injuring her mother in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam.
At about 8:00 am on Friday, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thom, 26, transported her two children — Tran Nguyen Hoang Yen, 4, and Tran Nguyen Tuan Kiet, 1 — and her 53-year-old mother-in-law, Huynh Thi Rang, to a medical center for Kiet’s health check-up, said Nguyen Van Dung, secretary of the Party Committee of Phu My District in Binh Dinh.
They stopped in front of the house of Nguyen Sum, Thom’s father, to ask him to take care of Yen.

However, Yen suddenly accelerated the motorbike, making it to crash into a fence.
Rang, Kiet, and Yen died on the way to hospital, while Thom was injured and taken to the Binh Dinh General Hospital.
Thom, who was numbed with grief, recounted that when her daughter accelerated the motorbike, she tried to hold the handlebars but everything was like a streak of lightning.
After the vehicle hit the fence, the four were thrown off.

Local authorities have extended condolences to the family and supported it with funeral expenses.
“This is a heart-breaking case. I hope everyone will take caution and not be heedless while transporting children on vehicles to prevent painful consequences,” Dung said.
