Many beer joints and nightclubs playing ear-splitting music and encroaching on sidewalks along Pham Van Dong Boulevard in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City were fined during the local authorities’ inspection.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Police said on Sunday that police in Go Vap District launched an inspection into nightspots playing loud music and offering shisha in the district, including on Pham Van Dong Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City, between May 26 and June 1.
The authorities sealed off and seized 68 cylinders of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, 19 jars of shisha oil, and 15 hookahs, among others.
Some beer joints were fined for encroaching on sidewalks and excessive noise in public places between 11:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The Go Vap District Police have asked the National Institute of Criminal Sciences under the Ministry of Public Security to assess the confiscated chemicals as evidence to handle violators.
They will also expand their inspection and handling of the use of laughing gas, shisha, and e-cigarettes within its precincts.
According to the national technical standards, the permitted noise level in special areas is no more than 55 decibels from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm and 45 decibels between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am.
Meanwhile, it is no more than 70 decibels from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm and 55 decibels from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am for common areas.
Pursuant to the regulations on administrative penalties, violators shall be fined VND1-5 million (US$43-214) for noise exceeding the standard level by 2-5 decibels, and VND5-20 million ($214-857) for surpassing the standard level by 5-10 decibels.
