A heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon flooded many parts in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, with Long Tho Commune, Phuoc Thien Commune, and Hiep Phuoc Town in Nhon Trach District badly affected.

At around 8:30 pm, the section of Hung Vuong Street passing through Hiep Phuoc and the Tran Phu - Ly Thai To intersection in Phuoc Thien remained heavily inundated, hampering vehicular movement.

Water flowing from upstream areas left the Lo Ren drainage system, which runs through Long Tho, badly flooded, under 40-50cm-deep water.

Some motorcyclists had their vehicles break down after they tried to drive through deeply flooded areas.

Lots of local houses and boarding houses in low-lying areas were submerged. Heavy flooding in some locations wreaked havoc on household facilities.

Tuesday afternoon's downpour also turned the National Highway 1 section passing through Hung Loc Commune of Thong Nhat District into a river, with many motorcycles shifting to car lanes and worsening traffic gridlock.

Previously, another torrential rain on June 4 resulted in over 150 houses in Hiep Phuoc being submerged by rainwater.

In addition, one house fell down, another suffered a wall collapse, while many assets, such as cars and motorbikes, in several houses were swept away by the rainwater.
