Torrential rains pounded many parts of Bu Dang District in Binh Phuoc Province, southern Vietnam on Thursday afternoon, resulting in heavy flooding in these areas.
The steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control in Bu Dang said on Friday that it had dispatched rescue forces to assist affected local residents to cope with the aftermath of the flooding.
The rescue forces evacuated residents in low-lying areas to safer locations.

Statistics from the steering committee showed that the flooding caused no casualties but wreaked havoc on local residents’ properties and their crops.
In Duc Phong Town, 51 houses, mostly located along Dak Woa stream, were 1-2m underwater, with many of their properties damaged.
The heavy rains also badly hit a residential area near Hoa Dong Bridge, Bu Dang Bridge, and a section of National Highway 14.
Multiple houses situated along the stream in Doan Ket Commune were 1-1.5m underwater, while many roads turned into rivers and dozens of hectares of paddy land were affected.

To prevent further flooding in the long run, the steering committee proposed the provincial project management board soon widen the stream bed and build embankments and roadways near the flood-prone stream.
