-- A fire broke out at around 11:00 pm on Tuesday in a nine-story apartment building located in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi. The exact casualties remain unknown at the time of writing.
-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have imposed temporary custody on four customs officials from Binh Phuoc Province who allegedly received bribes exceeding VND500 million (US$20,734) in exchange for facilitating two companies in smuggling large volumes of polyester fiber from China since March.
-- Authorities in Hong Linh Town of Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam have deployed fire trucks to deliver clean water to thousands of households in response to numerous dry lakes and dams causing a scarcity of raw water for the local water plant.
-- Police in Vinh Cuu District of Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam on Tuesday revealed that they had detained a garbage truck driver who fatally drove over and killed a seven-year-old boy due to reckless driving.

-- The U.S. Federal Register recently announced lower anti-dumping duties on tra fish (pangasius) products from Vietnam, whose pangasius exports to the U.S. amounted to $169 million as of August 15, marking a 59-percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
-- AI-based English learning app ELSA, backed by Vietnam Investment Group (VI Group), is understood to have raised $20 million in a new funding round led by UOB Venture Management, the private equity arm of Singapore-based bank UOB, DealStreetAsia reported.
