American billionaire Bill Gates was initially scheduled to visit Hoi An City of Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam on Tuesday afternoon for dining, but the visit was called off at the last moment due to several changes.

The renowned billionaire and his entourage previously planned to have a meal at a restaurant in Hoi An, a tourist attraction in central Vietnam.

Earlier on Tuesday, the entourage had come to the restaurant to check preparations for his visit.

The restaurant was ready to serve the guests.

Around 3:00 pm on the same day, the restaurant was informed that Gates would not visit it as planned.

Despite the cancelation, a host of reporters, local residents, and tourists in Hoi An still waited for the arrival of Gates until the evening.

The Quang Nam administration, learning about Gates' visit to Hoi An, expressed interest and requested confirmation from Hoi An authorities.

They urged a warm welcome if his visit was confirmed.
