Police in Tien Giang Province, southern Vietnam are investigating the discovery of 52 packages of suspected drugs that washed ashore onto a beach in Go Cong District, a senior officer confirmed on Saturday.

Many of the packages were first detected on the beach by a 49-year-old scrap collector, identified as Nguyen Minh H., at around 4:00 pm on Thursday.

After making the discovery, he continued to collect plastic items and scrap before heading back home.

By around 6:00 pm on Friday, when the man came to this area to collect scrap, he found that the packages remained there.

These packages contained suspected powdered solid drugs.

On Saturday morning, police officers and border guards jointly conducted a search operation in the Go Cong waters, uncovering an additional 12 packages.
