A 4.5-metric-ton pure copper statue of Vladimir Lenin will be unveiled in Vinh City, Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam, creating a striking landmark and beautifying the city center.
To commemorate the 154th birthday anniversary of V.I. Lenin (April 22, 1870 – January 21, 1924), Nghe An Province and Ulyanovsk City of Russia will hold the inauguration ceremony for a statue of Lenin in Vinh City later this month.
Nghe An, the hometown of late President Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969), and Ulyanovsk, the birthplace of Lenin, established friendly and cooperative relations in 2007.
The 4.5-metric-ton, 3.6-meter-tall statue was crafted from pure copper in Ulyanovsk and gifted by the Russian city to Nghe An.
To be situated at the intersection of V.I.Lenin Boulevard and Nguyen Phong Sac Street in Vinh City, the statue is expected to contribute to the city’s urban landscape.
The statue’s venue, completed in June 2020, spans an area of 1,036.5 square meters.
Its pedestal, standing three meters tall and constructed of steel, bears inscriptions in both Russian and Vietnamese: 'V.I.LENIN, 1870-1924' on the front and 'Symbol of Vietnam-Russia Friendship' on the back.
In 2017, Ulyanovsk unveiled a five-meter-tall full-body bronze statue of late President Ho Chi Minh in an area of 2,000 square meters next to the Ho Chi Minh Boulevard in Zasniazhsky District.
