A female driver was fined VND17 million (US$665.8) and had her driver’s license revoked for six months for backing a car on an expressway in southern Vietnam on Tuesday.

The Traffic Police Department said on Wednesday that it had asked relevant units to identify a car driver after a video surfaced on social media of the driver steering the car in reverse on a Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway section in Dong Nai Province

The driver was later identified as N.T.H., a 35-year-old resident of Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam.

At the police station, H. said she hired the car to take her two children out.

While traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, as she missed the exit ramp to the Cam My Intersection in Dong Nai, she drove the car backward.

She told police that she acknowledged her violation and understood it could endanger other commuters.
