The construction and installation of a 5.6-kilometer-long water pipe system for the big-ticket Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam is 95 percent complete.
Work on the pipeline construction and installation started on May 6, with a total capital of nearly VND46 billion (US$1.8 million).
The pipeline, whose investor is Dong Nai Water JSC, runs across Long An and Long Phuoc Communes in Long Thanh District.
Water from the Dong Nai River will be treated at Thien Tan Water Plant before flowing through the pipeline to Long Thanh International Airport, which is under construction, said the investor.
During the first phase, the pipeline will provide the airport with some 10,000 cubic meters of clean water daily.
The daily capacity will be raised to 36,000 cubic meters of water in the next phase.

Hoang Quoc Phuong, a representative of Dong Nai Water JSC, stated that the firm views the pipeline system as a key project so it has collaborated with the contractor, relevant units, and local authorities to expedite the project's completion.
Nguyen Ngoc Anh, from TNG Investment and Construction JSC, the contractor of the project, affirmed that the pipeline construction and installation is now 95 percent complete after 2.5 months of implementation.
The project was set to be conducted within 60 days, but unfavorable weather conditions such as rains and delayed land clearance have prolonged its completion deadline.
“The completion of the package will be extended to August 31,” Anh said.
The Long Thanh International Airport project spans 5,000 hectares and carries a VND336.63 trillion ($13.3 billion) price tag.
Once finished, the airport will be the largest in the nation with an annual capacity of 100 million passengers and five million metric tons of cargo.
