An earthquake, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, struck Ngoc Lac, a district in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa, on Sunday morning, according to Vietnam's Institute of Geophysics.

The tremor was recorded at 4:32 am and around 10 kilometers deep.

Many residents in Ngoc Lac District and neighboring districts perceived the tremor.

“I was sleeping when I heard a sound like soft thunder, then felt my bed vibrate for about 10 seconds,” Le Thi Trang, a local resident, recalled.

Thu, another local resident, shared that she was sleeping when she was awakened by the vibrations and thought that there was thunder.

After checking her camera, she realized that there was an earthquake lasting for about 12 seconds, Thu added.

The quake posed no risks of disasters, according to the Institute of Geophysics.

The institute is still keeping a close watch on the earthquake.

In Vietnam, earthquakes registering magnitudes between four and 4.9 are categorized as minor tremors, carrying minimal risk of causing damage or injury.
