A truck driver has been lauded for repeatedly driving the vehicle forward and backward on a spillway in Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam in 1.5 hours to reduce the water flow speed, thus helping over 100 motorbikes safely pass through the spillway.
Thousands of netizens left compliments below a video of his good deed on social media.
The driver was identified as Vu Van Ai, a 38-year-old resident in Lao Cai Province.
Ai recalled that on July 29, while driving his truck from Bao Yen District to Muong Khuong District in Lao Cai, he noticed many motorbike riders hesitating to cross the spillway due to the swift water flow.
Some motorbike owners suggested loading their vehicles onto the truck to get through the section.
However, this idea proved impractical since the truck was too high. Thinking quickly, Ai decided to use his truck to help slow down the water flow. He stayed at the spillway until all the motorbikes were safely able to pass through.
Receiving many compliments, Ai expressed his happiness at being able to help others and share the kindness of drivers.
"It was late afternoon, and everyone wanted to return home after a long day of work," he added.
"As a driver, I always strive to perform good deeds during my daily journeys."
