A traffic police team helped a pregnant woman give birth to twins when she showed signs of going into labor while traveling in her car on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway in southern Vietnam on Thursday.
Major Nguyen Van Huong, head of Traffic Patrol Police Unit No. 7 under the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department, reported on Friday that a patrol team from the unit performed a commendable act on the freeway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with several southwestern provinces.
At 7:40 pm on Thursday, four police officers were on patrol when they saw a seven-seater car parking in the emergency lane of the freeway’s section in Chau Thanh District of Tien Giang Province.
According to the website ATGT.VN, a man got out of the car to ask for assistance from a police officer as his wife, who was inside the vehicle, showed signs of going into labor and needed emergency delivery.

The officers immediately assisted the man, T., in helping his wife give birth to twin sons in his car.
After the childbearing, the health conditions of the woman and her two babies were weak, so the team gave them first aid and care before taking them to the Tien Giang General Hospital.
T. explained that his wife, who was over 34 weeks pregnant, went into labor when her water broke while they were en route to Ho Chi Minh City for delivery, according to VnExpress.
A similar incident occurred in early July when traffic police in Can Tho City, located in the Mekong Delta, used their specialized police motorbikes to escort a car carrying a woman on National Highway 1 to the Can Tho Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, where she safely gave birth to a baby girl.
