The administration in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam has requested the provincial Department of Tourism to adopt solutions, including identifying seven untamed islands and beaches, to serve international billionaires and other high-spending tourists.

Quang Ninh set a target of welcoming 3.3 million tourists this quarter, including some 900,000 international travelers, according to a meeting to discuss solutions for promoting Quang Ninh Province’s tourism in the rest of the year.

To reach the target, local agencies and districts were asked to focus on tourism promotion programs at home and abroad.

They were urged to continue cleaning up beaches and tourist sites as well as organizing cultural, tourism, and sporting events to attract tourists.

Vice-chairwoman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh tasked relevant departments, agencies, cities, and districts with conducting 186 tourism development programs and deploying 67 new tourism products.

The province will introduce new tourism products and host large events, such as a South Korea-Vietnam music festival, the 2024 Halong Bay Heritage Marathon, a Vietnam-China cross-border running event, the 2024 Binh Lieu Culture-Tourism Week, and tourism events in Uong Bi City, until the end of this year.

Hanh also ordered the early exploitation of Soi Him, Hang Co, and Trinh Nu Beaches in Ha Long Bay and the organization of art programs and tea breaks in eligible caves.

The province will hold an event to welcome its 17 millionth tourist and the three millionth international traveler.

It looks to launch the first cruise ship tour to Bai Tu Long Bay at the end of this month.

Quang Ninh will promote its cruise tourism following the success of the Hong Kong - Guangdong - Ha Long and Beihai - Ha Long routes, while boosting flights via Van Don International Airport.

The province will also dispatch working teams to promote its tourism to major industrial parks and economic groups nationwide.

These enterprises have a large number of employees and a high demand for travel and conventions, according to the Quang Ninh administration.

Tourism promotion activities will be conducted in potential markets, such as Da Nang City in the central region and Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province, and Dong Nai Provinces in the south.

Quang Ninh welcomed 15.6 million tourist arrivals in January-September, up 20 percent year on year.

Among the arrivals were nearly 2.6 million international visitors, mainly from China, South Korea, the U.S., India, France, and Australia.

The province earned some VND36.9 trillion (US$1.5 billion) in tourism revenue in the nine-month period, surging 39 percent over the same period last year.

Quang Ninh aims to serve 19 million tourists this year, including 3.5 million foreigners, local media reported, citing the provincial Department of Tourism.
