Da Nang City in central Vietnam will host a tourism golf festival late next month, which will include the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2023 and scores of sidelines events.
The tourism golf festival will last from August 25 to September 2, with the highlight being the golf championship, the municipal Department of Tourism said on Monday.
The golf championship is expected to gather 144 professional golfers, including 120 international golfers and 24 domestic players, who will vie for a total of US$100,000 in prizes, according to Nguyen Xuan Binh, deputy head of the tourism department.
The tournament, which will take place at the BRG Da Nang Golf Resort’s Nicklaus Course, is part of the Asian Development Tour under Asian Tour Company.
The festival will also feature workshops on golf and travel and friendship tournaments enabling golfers and golf enthusiasts to meet and compete with professional players.
“With the aim of bringing this sport closer to local residents and visitors, the festival’s organizer will launch new activities in this fest, including hosting an exhibition showcasing golf-related items, allowing golf lovers to play, organizing a fashion show, and offering culinary delights,” Binh said.
Mark Reeves, director of Golf Development and Property Business Division at BRG Group, one of Vietnam's leading private multi-sector companies, said the championship is expected to offer unforgettable experiences to golfers and visitors, as well as to promote golf tourism development in the country.
Ken Kudo, an Asian Tour representative, said the golf championship is a long-term project co-implemented by Asian Development Tour and Da Nang.
Vietnam has played a vital role in golf tournaments hosted by Asian Tour, he added.
The Da Nang golf tourism festival is expected to be one of the most anticipated sports events among golf lovers, promoting the city's tourism and developing it into a top Asian event and festival destination, according to the municipal tourism authority.
