Vietnam will host a group stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025, a premier club women’s football tournament in Asia which will be held for the first time in August this year.

The Asian Football Confederation has confirmed that 22 clubs will take part in the maiden tournament, heralding a new era of success and progress for women’s football in Asia.

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club will be Vietnam’s representative to compete at the AFC Women's Champions League 2025.

Clubs from the top eight member associations, as ranked by FIFA, will qualify directly for the group stage, including Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies from Japan, Naegohyang Women from North Korea, Melbourne City FC from Australia, Wuhan Jiangda Women's from China, Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women from South Korea, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club from Vietnam, Kaya FC-Iloilo from the Philippines, and Taichung Blue Whale Women's Football Team from Taiwan.

The remaining 14 clubs will have to make it through the preliminary stage that features four groups, including two groups of four teams and two groups of three teams each. They will play between August 25 and 31 to choose four group winners.

Jordan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand will be the hosts of each group in the preliminary stage.

The group stage will be played from October 6 to 12, 2024. Competing clubs will be divided into three groups of four.

Teams in each group will play one another in a centralized single round-robin format in each group.

The top two finishers in each group, together with the best two third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.

Vietnam, China, and an as-yet-unannounced country will be the hosts of each group in the group stage.

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club are currently the best-performing women’s football club in Vietnam.
