Sparkling fireworks lit up the night sky over the Han River in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Saturday, marking the opening of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024, scheduled to take place between June 8 and July 13 in this coastal city.
The 10,000-seat area surrounding the DIFF stage was fully filled with spectators many hours before the opening ceremony began.
Aside from stunning art performances, the opening night amazed festival-goers with thrilling jetski and flyboard displays on the Han River.

The ceremony was succeeded by the competition between the defending 2023 DIFF champion France and the host Vietnam, under the theme ‘Made of Unique Culture.'
With its decade-long experience of displaying fireworks, a team from Da Nang, representing Vietnam, staged a mesmerizing performance which depicted the robust growth of the coastal Vietnamese city and the hospitality of the locals.

The French team ArtEventia chose dragon, which is also the zodiac animal of the Vietnamese culture for 2024, as the main symbol of its breathtaking gig to convey a message of strength, power, and human connection.

The 12th edition of DIFF this year will feature performances by seven international pyrotechnic teams from France, Italy, the U.S., Germany, Poland, China, Finland, and a team from Da Nang every Saturday night during the five-week period.
Each team will have 20 minutes to showcase their pyrotechnic artistry, following different themes such as: Made of Unique Culture, Made of Nature Wisdom, Made of Love Inspiration, Made of Fairy Tales, Made of Young Generation.
The first DIFF edition was held in 2008.
Last year, the festival made significant contributions to the city’s post-pandemic tourism recovery.
During the first half of 2023, lodging facilities across the city served more than 3.5 million visitor arrivals, marking a year-on-year growth rate of 116.6 percent.
The number of international visitors was 11.3-fold higher than the 2022 figure, reaching 930,000, while the volume of domestic guests soared nearly 68 percent versus the previous year.
