Da Nang City in central Vietnam tops the list of the 10 most sought-after destinations for Indian tourists, according to global travel search site Skyscanner’s latest report on India’s travel landscape.
The municipal tourism promotion center cited the travel trend report on Tuesday as saying that searches for information about hotels, flights, and car rental in Da Nang by Indians rose by 1,141 percent compared to last year.
Indians’ searches for Da Nang double those for the second-ranked destination, Kazakhstan’s Almaty.
Indian visitors are keen on destinations that have beaches and feature a short distance to their country, according to Skyscanner, which is available in over 30 languages and is used by 100 million people per month.
Among beach cities worldwide, Da Nang is the travel destination most searched for by Indians, followed by Thailand’s Krabi, and Seychelles’ Mahe.
Three other factors pulling the strings with Indian tourists’ site selection for their 2024 trips are the destinations’ cuisine, weather, and cultural features.
In terms of all criteria, Da Nang takes the top spot for Indians’ most sought-after destination, followed by Almaty, Azerbaijan’s Baku, and Japan’s Osaka, according to the Skyscanner report.
Hanoi came fifth on the list.
Da Nang has the advantages of sea-based tourism, comfortable sunshine, and good weather that are suitable for Indians’ preferences, said the municipal center.
Besides, the central Vietnamese coastal city is home to numerous famous seafood restaurants, and over 30 Indian eateries.
Furthermore, Han and Con Markets in Da Nang are among the sites most favored by Indian travelers.
Da Nang's tourism agencies are focusing on tapping the Indian travel source market to make up for a fall in international tourist arrivals from its traditional markets such as South Korea, Japan, and China.
