The Francophone University Association (AUF) opened its Ho Chi Minh City Campus on Friday to offer distance learning courses and consultations on the development plans of member universities.
The campus, located at 49 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1, aims to improve pedagogic approaches and teaching efficiency by filming lectures, utilizing online media, and providing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), an open Web-based distance learning program that is designed for the participation of large numbers of geographically dispersed students, according to AUF.
The Ho Chi Minh City Campus also runs distance training courses as well as offering consultations on the development plans of member universities, the AUF said, adding that French-speaking lecturers, researchers, and university students in southern Vietnam thus have a new destination for diverse academic activities such as group work, access to international scientific data and reports, reading articles in French, opening conferences or workshops, training, and more.
The campus also serves as the AUF’s representative office in the southern region, alongside its northern counterpart inaugurated in Hanoi last year, the association said, adding that the venues are also set to promote cultural exchange between Vietnam and France.
Francophone University Association is an international association comprising universities, academic networks and scientific research centers that use the French language all over the world.
The organization said on its website that it is one of the world’s largest higher education and research associations, and has drawn 812 members in 104 countries to participate.
