A Christmas tree made of such reusable material as plastic chairs brought hundreds of visitors to a zoo in Ho Chi Minh City, while thousands of people came to a village in the southern province of Dong Nai to see another Christmas tree shaped with traditional Vietnamese hats ‘non la’ and a 200-meter stone-like cave.

As Christmas is in the air, attractions and major streets in big cities in Vietnam have been decorated with festive lights.

Among them is an 8-meter Christmas tree at the Rubik Zoo in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, which has attracted many visitors over the past few days for its uniqueness.

Unlike other evergreen conifers or artificial trees of a similar appearance that are erected for the Christmas festival, the Christmas tree at the Rubik Zoo consists of 200 plastic chairs piled up on each other and is decorated with colored lights.

“I have seen Christmas trees made of plastic cans, but this is my first time seeing a Christmas tree like this,” said Nguyen Viet Ha, a 27-year-old visitor from Hanoi.

“With the message of protecting the environment, on this Christmas occasion, we made the Christmas tree with reusable material, mainly plastic chairs,” said Hoang Tuan Anh, managing director of Rubik Zoo.

The chairs will be removed and returned to normal use after the festival, according to Anh.

“The cost is not too high, it also protects the environment,” the managing director added.

In addition, artificial snow is let fall down at 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm to create a winter-like atmosphere.

The Christmas tree with snowfall will stay at the Rubik Zoo until January 1, 2019.

Another 20-meter Christmas tree made up of as many as 1,200 non la and a 200-meter-long  stone-like cave in the southern province of Dong Nai have aroused curiosity from locals and nearby visitors.

The idea for the stone-like cave was inspired by the breathtaking Phong Nha Cave in the north-central province of Quang Binh.

It was made from more than 20,000 fodder packing bags and tens of thousands of decorative bulbs.

Besides that, several churches in the locality are also decorated with thousands of electric lights, LED lights, flower flags and patterns.
