While receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Ho Dac Minh Nguyet on Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara Oleksandr said Ukraine highly appreciates its relationship with Vietnam. Ukraine always attaches importance to expanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, said Oleksandr at the reception for Nguyet in Kiev on April 16. The minister told Nguyet that he hopes the two countries will be well prepared for the 14th meeting of the Vietnam – Ukraine Inter-Governmental Committee on economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation later this year.
He also said specific measures should be taken by both sides to strengthen bilateral economic and trade ties to match the political relations between Ukraine and Vietnam. On her part, Nguyet said she highly appreciated the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s role in promoting and expanding bilateral cooperation. Nguyet expressed her pleasure at the sound development of the Vietnam-Ukraine cooperation, especially in politics, economics, trade, tourism, education, and national defense. She called on the Minister to deal with Ukraine’s relevant agencies to remove obstacles to the exporting of Vietnamese tra fish to the country. Ambassador Nguyet conveyed Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s invitation to Leonid Kozhara Aleksandra to visit Vietnam in the near future. Ukraine established its diplomatic relations with Vietnam on 23 January 1992.
