Vietnamese State President Vo Van Thuong will lead a Vietnamese delegation to attend the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom from next Thursday to Saturday.
The attendance will be made at the invitation of the British royal family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday.
The head of the Vietnamese state also affirmed the information while receiving British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew on the same day.
During the reception, State President Thuong applauded the ambassador for boosting the relations between Vietnam and the UK.
He affirmed that King Charles III is a noble symbol of the UK and has actively supported the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership.
The Vietnamese official also expressed his hope that his upcoming trip will strengthen the favorable political foundation for fostering the cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Frew expressed his joy that Vietnamese State President Thuong will attend King Charles III’s coronation, saying that the event is especially meaningful as the two countries celebrate 50 years of their diplomatic relations this year.
He believed that the bilateral relations between the two sides will develop further in economy, trade, climate change, and education.
The diplomat also suggested the two sides strengthen the cooperation in national defense and security.
The ambassador also took the occasion to thank Vietnam for supporting the UK to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), saying that this is the UK’s important move to more deeply access the Asia Pacific region and boost the collaboration with Vietnam in all sectors, especially increasing their two-way trade.

He also suggested the two sides enhance the partnership in education.
At present, the number of Vietnamese students studying in the UK is high. They will contribute to Vietnam’s renovation and socio-economic development when they return home, State President Thuong added.
He also backed Frew’s suggestion to foster the cooperation in national defense and security to contribute to promoting peace and prosperity in the region and the world as a whole.
In addition, the two sides should bolster all-level delegation exchanges to improve their mutual understanding and trust.
