‘Vietnamese Transporter’ could be Ho Chi Minh City deliveryman

Tuesday, April 12, 2016, 13:34 GMT+7

An unidentified man has been dubbed ‘The Vietnamese Transporter’ after an incredible video surfaced last week showing him maneuvering his motorbike through a busy street while loaded with nearly ten large rolls of cloth.

In the video which has so far been viewed nearly half a million times on Tuoi Tre News’  Facebook page, the man is seen sitting at the rear of his bike, stretching his arms to control the vehicle.

The space between his lap and the bike’s handlebars is filled with nearly ten rolls of heavy cloth.

Dangerous as it may seem, the man is captured skillfully negotiating the streets of what is believed to be Ho Chi Minh City, looking at the one-minute footage.

“Incredible”, “OMG” and “How could he do that?” are among the most common comments under the video.

Many people joked that this is the kind of deliveryman they would hire.

“Who needs a truck when you can do it with a motorbike?” one of the comments reads.

Some commenters also said they have seen such ‘transporters’ in real life, suggesting the video was filmed around Tan Binh Market, one of the major wholesale hubs of fabrics in Ho Chi Minh City.

The market is located just a stone's throw away from Bay Hien, an area full of textile facilities and fabric wholesale outlets.

The man’s actions in the viral video are said to be commonplace among these types of deliverymen, who transfer material between Tan Binh Market and Bay Hien on a daily basis, according to some comments on Facebook.

But he must surely be one of the most skillful and/or reckless.

“At least he is wearing a helmet,” one Facebook user commented.

Totally ignoring traffic laws and safety to transport goods on motorbikes is not uncommon in Vietnam.
