A 14-year-old girl has recovered from an uncommon heart condition, according to doctors at a hospital in the southern city of Can Tho.
Doctors at Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital said that they had succeeded in saving N.T.T.T., who suffered from congenital aortic stenosis and coarctation of the aorta.
According to the doctors, most people suffering from such conditions die without showing symptoms, thus this is a rare case.
T.’s relatives said that she frequently became exhausted after exertions and easily fainted.
After many consultations and medical examinations, cardiothoracic surgeons decided to carry out the operation with Konno procedures.
The patient gained her health back quickly, hence being discharged after six days of treatment at the hospital.
T.’s surgery and other related fees, worth VND80 million (US$3,588), were paid by the Healing Heart Vietnam, the Understanding the Heart Foundation, and the Ho Chi Minh City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients.
