A court in Hanoi on Friday sentenced a 44-year-old primary school teacher to six years behind bars for committing lewd acts with seven third-grade students at his school.
Nguyen Dinh Le was given the sentence in a closed courtroom in the capital’s outer district of Hoai Duc, as angry parents of the victims expressed their fury upon seeing the man arrived at the court.
The married teacher was found guilty of lewd acts with different students both on the school grounds and at his house.
According to the indictment, Le was appointed to be the home teacher of class 3B of An Thuong A Primary School in the 2017-18 academic year in August 2017.
In November the same year, Le began to provide after-class lessons to some of his students at his home every Saturday morning.

On one Saturday morning that month, third-grader K.L and some of her classmates came to Le’s house to attend the extra class.
As he took the children from the first floor to the third floor, where the study is located, Le suddenly asked L. to enter his bedroom, where he committed lewd acts with her.
Le repeated the crimes twice with the same student when they were at school in the following months.
The teacher was also found having hugged, kissed and touched the sensitive parts of six others third-grade schoolgirls.
The crimes were only discovered in April this year, when the children told their parents.
The parents then lodged an appeal to denounce Le.
The teacher was convicted of lewd acts with people under 16, for which the maximum jail term is seven years.
