Vietnamese authorities have apprehended a man suspected of slaying three people of his wife’s five-member family in case that involved love affair envy and rocked Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.
Nguyen Dang Khoa, 31, was caught in a motorcycle repair shop in Tien Giang Province of the Mekong Delta region, police said on Tuesday.
Khoa was suspected of killing his wife, 24; his mother-in-law, 44; and his stepson, 5; who all lived in the province.
He was also believed to choke the wife’s 17-year-old blood sister with a string but she did not die.
Police records say that Khoa, a resident in Tien Giang’s neighbor Dong Thap Province, stayed in his parents-in-law’s house on August 12 night and took the victims’ lives at 3:00 am the following morning.
The deceased had bruises allegedly from strangulation.
The father-in-law survived since he was tending a relative at a local hospital at the time of the incident.
Khoa has worked as an itinerant animal medicine vendor and got married to his wife in early 2017, but the woman recently wanted to get a divorce, police said.
He confessed to law enforcement that he went on a killing spree thinking that his wife was having an extramarital love affair.
