-- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi on Friday for U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and a U.S. business delegation who are in Vietnam for an official visit.

-- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh received visiting Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Pocivalsek in Hanoi on Friday.

-- Localities in Vietnam's south-central coast are bracing for powerful Storm Nakri, the sixth yet strongest typhoon from the East Vietnam Sea this year, which is forecast to be about 140 kilometers off the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago packing winds at up to 135 kilometers per hour as of 10:00 am on Saturday, and will be about 200 kilometers off provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa a day later.

-- The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on Friday evening officially announced the identities of all 39 victims who were found dead in a truck container in Essex, the UK on October 23, one day after confirming that they were all Vietnamese.

-- OhmniLabs, a California-based telepresence company co-founded by Vietnamese serial entrepreneur Vu Duy Thuc, has recently partnered with ANA, the largest airline in Japan by revenue and passenger number, in a project which highlights telerobotics innovations.

Lifestyle

-- A photo exhibition is being held at the Korean Cultural Center in Hanoi until November 16 to introduce the beauty and history of Baekje Historic Areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in South Korea, to people in Vietnam.

-- About 10,000 people are expected to take part in the 2019 Run for the Heart race, an annual event to support disadvantaged children with congenital heart diseases which is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on November 10 and in Ho Chi Minh City on November 24.

-- Vietnam were named best men’s National Team of the Year at the AFF Awards 2019 held in Hanoi on Friday evening, while Vietnamese midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai won the men’s AFF Player of the Year, and his coach South Korean Park Hang Seo won men’s Coach of the Year.

-- Vietnam beat Guam 4-1 in their second match at the AFC U19 Championship qualification’s Group J in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday evening.
