Four members of Vietnam’s first all-female police escort unit took part in handling drunk-driving cases in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday evening.
Together with male colleagues, the four policewomen helped man a checkpoint at the intersection of Le Quang Dinh Street and Pham Van Dong Street in Go Vap District.
Their participation in the checkpoint was in addition to their 9-5 responsibilities.
The police officers’ task was to pull over drivers for an administrative inspection, review the road users’ documents, examine their vehicles, and perform breath alcohol tests.

Vietnam’s first all-women police escort unit made its debut in Ho Chi Minh City on August 25.
The team is comprised of 58 female traffic police officers tasked with leading motorcades transporting important individuals, including world leaders visiting Ho Chi Minh City, as well as parading on the city’s streets.
