Police have arrested seven hawkers for attacking two people on Nguyen Hue Promenade in downtown Ho Chi Minh City earlier this week.

Officers in District 1 confirmed on Thursday that they had apprehended seven suspects aged 14 to 28 who were involved in the assault on Ha Vu Dang Khoa, 21, and Nguyen Minh Hai, 25.

Preliminary information showed that the incident took place along Nguyen Hue Promenade at around 10:00 pm on Monday.

Khoa and Hai were skateboarding when Hai collided with 26-year-old Vu Duc Hau, a food vendor who works on the walking street.

An argument broke out between Hai and Hau which quickly escalated to violence, but the situation was intervened by bystanders.

However, Hau later approached Hai again to reignite the argument.

Six other hawkers joined Hau and attacked Hai.

Khoa tried to protect his friend and also ended up being beaten.

The violence was filmed by an eyewitness, and the footage was shared on social media on Thursday morning.

Following the incident, Hai suffered a leg injury that required stiches, a bruised eye, and a broken tooth.

Khoa suffered a bruised eye and a broken nose.
