-- Rescuers saved two miners on Sunday afternoon after they had been trapped in a coal mine in northern Quang Ninh Province for 12 hours.

-- A residential area in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City was still inundated with rainwater on Sunday following a heavy downpour 13 hours earlier.

-- A heavy rain shower with strong winds on Saturday evening blew off the roofs of 67 houses and felled hundreds of fruit trees in southern Tien Giang Province, causing damage of nearly VND2.6 billion (US$110,885), a local official said on Sunday.

-- Authorities in Hue, the capital city of central Thua Thien-Hue Province, announced on Sunday an online map providing tourists with the locations of nearly 350 free public toilets at local businesses and households.

-- Police in north-central Ha Tinh Province said on Sunday that they had arrested a Hanoi man for illegally entering Vietnam from Laos through a small trail in the border area on Friday.

-- Authorities in south-central Khanh Hoa Province said on Sunday that a female tourist fell off the stairs at Tram Huong Tower, an attraction in Nha Trang City, to her death right on the spot while taking pictures there on Saturday afternoon.

-- A seven-year-old girl drowned after a pedal boat carrying her and her mother overturned in northern Hai Duong Province on Sunday.

-- Prof. Morten Peter Meldal, the winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is slated to give a lecture to students and scientists of the University of Science under the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City on Monday morning.
