-- Work on three major expressway projects in southern Vietnam, namely Beltway No. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, and Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, will start this morning.

-- Police in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have fined more than 100 people for spreading fake news about deadly armed attacks on the headquarters of the People's Committees of two communes in the province on their Facebook accounts.

-- The Airports Corporation of Vietnam and the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam on Saturday inaugurated the T2 Terminal of Phu Bai International Airport. -- The administration of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province in southern Vietnam on Saturday held the ground-breaking ceremony of a project to expand and upgrade the 77-kilometer-long coastal road 994, which carries a price tag of over VND6.5 trillion (US$276.3 million).

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating a loan shark ring run by a 38-year-old man from Latvia and his accomplices.

-- Vietnam’s budget air carrier Vietjet on Saturday opened a direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Brisbane, the capital of Queensland State in northeastern Australia, making it the first Vietnamese airline to operate a direct air service between Vietnam and the state.

Lifestyle

-- The third night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2023 lit up the sky of the namesake Vietnamese city on Saturday with performances from former winners of the festival—Australia and Italy.

Education

-- Vietnam took the lead at the first Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad as all of its eight students won medals, including four golds and four silvers, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training informed.
