Doksuri entered the East Vietnam Sea on Thursday morning after battering Luzon Island in the Philippines, bringing rains to Vietnam’s southern region, according to the national weather center.
The storm is the second to hit Vietnam this year.
Doksuri was tracked moving over the boundary separating the East Vietnam Sea and the Pacific Ocean at 7:00 am on Thursday, packing strong winds of 134-166 kilometers per hour.
It will continue moving north-west to the south of Taiwan over the next few hours before weakening on Friday.
The south-central and southern regions of Vietnam began experiencing moderate to heavy rains on Thursday morning due to the storm.
Rainfall of up to 50 millimeters is expected to lash the south-central region on Thursday afternoon, while the southern region is forecast to face heavy rains and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
