An over-one-minute video showing a man lying on the saddle of an electric scooter while driving on a mountain pass in Hanoi has gone viral on social media.
The video showed that the vehicle had no number plate and traveled at high speed, while the man did not wear a helmet.
He traveled on a road section that is utterly precarious and has various sharp bends, while many locals and tourists were traveling on the road.
Many people had to slow down to avoid the man.
A representative of the police in Ba Vi District, Hanoi, where the mountain pass is located, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the unit detached police officers to surrounding streets to capture the man right after receiving reports of his dangerous act on Sunday but their efforts have been in vain.
The case happened on an internal road at Ba Vi National Park, so rangers there would take responsibility for its security and social order.
The policeman added that the man’s act of lying on the electric scooter while driving on the mountain pass showed signs of disrupting public order.
Therefore, the forest protection unit at Ba Vi National Park, after collecting information, will coordinate with the police to impose sanctions on the man in line with the law.
The national park has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors over the past month.
The mountain pass there poses a high risk of traffic accidents despite recent safety upgrades.
