Eight young Vietnamese people have been caught trying to flee to Cambodia after they shot a gun in Ho Chi Minh City early on Wednesday, a local police official confirmed on Thursday.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Trung, head of the border guard station at the My Quy Tay border gate in neighboring Long An Province, said the station handed over these gang members to the police in the city’s Go Vap District for further investigation.
The suspects include Phan Nguyen Duy Thuan, 26, from Ho Chi Minh City; Dinh Trong Kiet, 18, from south-central Binh Thuan Province; Hoang Gia Kiet, 30, from Ho Chi Minh City; along with two women and three men.
Earlier, the border guard station and the police jointly raided a hostel in Long An where they discovered these eight were renting three rooms.
The forces detected a black metal gun, two bullets, two used bullet casings, and plastic bottles and bags that contained what the suspects said were illicit drugs.

They also confessed that they had gathered in an alley in Go Vap at 0:15 am on Wednesday to settle a score with another man.
Phan Nguyen Duy Thuan shot into the air twice that provoked concerns among the local inhabitants.
After that, the gang hired a car to move to the said hostel where they sought ways to flee to Cambodia, but they were arrested by the forces before escaping.
