-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday received Romanian Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Stefan-Radu Oprea who is in Vietnam for the 17th session of the Vietnam-Romania Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday signed a decision appointing Bui Hoang Phuong, 40, head of the Department of Personnel and Organization under the Ministry of Information and Communications, as a deputy minister of the ministry.

-- A German vessel rescued all 14 crew members of a Vietnamese fishing boat in the waters off Binh Thuan Province in south-central Vietnam after they were stranded at sea for over 10 hours on Monday.

-- The administration in Phu Quoc City of southern Kien Giang Province on Monday coordinated with relevant agencies to start work on the 6.5-kilometer Suoi Cai-Rach Vem road project leading to Rach Vem Hamlet, a popular tourist site in the city.

-- A 31-year-old man died after a tractor overturned and weighed down on him while he was driving the vehicle in Ca Mau Province, the southern tip of Vietnam, on Monday, a local official said the same day.

-- Police in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son said on Monday that they had launched legal proceedings against and arrested a tractor-trailer driver for his alleged involvement in a traffic accident that killed five people and injured 10 others in the province on October 31. He parked his vehicle on the road but neither turned on hazard lights nor erected warning signs in front of and behind the vehicle, causing a 16-seater bus to crash into it.

-- The Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam on Monday granted a certificate of merit to a brave teacher who saved three people whose ship capsized on Wednesday last week.

-- The Consulates General of France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City will jointly organize a Christmas charity fair at the French Residence in the city between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturday this week.
