-- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida affirmed his commitment to directing relevant agencies to thoroughly evaluate and study Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s proposal to simplify visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens during a bilateral meeting in the framework of the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN – Japan Friendship and Cooperation on Sunday.

-- Congestion occurred on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway in the direction from Dong Nai Province to Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a line of cars stretching over 10 kilometers from National Highway 51 to Long Thanh Bridge.

-- A fishing boat in the waters of Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam on Sunday afternoon located and rescued two crew members of a sunk cargo ship who had gone missing at sea for several hours, while the remaining seven members had been previously saved by another vessel.

-- The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam has approved the allocation of nearly VND44 billion (US$1.8 million) for the province’s police forces to enhance surveillance cameras with infrared sensors for day and night monitoring.

-- A fire erupted at the Muong Thanh Vien Trieu apartment complex in Nha Trang City of Khanh Hoa Province around 6:00 pm on Sunday, prompting hundreds of residents to evacuate. Around 8:00 pm, the fire was successfully extinguished with no casualties reported.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has endorsed an initiative proposed by the People’s Committee of District 1 to establish motorbike parking lots along three routes near Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street.

-- Banh Mi Phuong, a well-known bakery in Hoi An City of Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam on Sunday initiated a trial sale amid its five-month operational suspension following a food poisoning incident that affected over 300 customers in September.

Education

-- The People’s Committee of Bac Ha District in Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam on Sunday temporarily suspended the principal of Hoang Thu Pho 1 Elementary Boarding School for Ethnic Minority to investigate a report regarding students’ meals, where 11 children reportedly shared only two packets of instant noodles thinly boiled and mixed with cooked rice.

World News

-- Floods after torrential rain on Sunday have forced more than 6,500 people in Malaysia’s states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak and Selangor to leave their homes to safe places, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
