After having been out of touch with her husband for over a week, a mother of three created a fake suicide scene on a bridge in Hanoi's Long Bien District to scare her husband, said local police on Friday.

The woman and her three children were found safe and sound in neighboring Vinh Phuc Province by their relatives, the police officers confirmed.

At around 5:00 am on Friday, the city’s waterway police unit was notified of an apparent suicide jump on the Dong Tru Bridge, where local residents detected a car, with its plate number registered in Vinh Phuc, four pairs of sandals including three kids’ ones, and a suicide note inside the car.

This scene prompted the locals to suspect that the woman had jumped off the bridge along with her kids.

Later, a dozen rescuers were dispatched to the bridge area to concurrently verify the case and search for the four.

Findings from the officers showed that she created the fake suicide incident to force her husband to return home.
