A teenager in Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam has been fined over VND3.7 million ($149) for riding a motorcycle with his legs on the handlebar and without wearing a helmet, a local police officer confirmed on Friday.
Colonel Nguyen Thai Hoang, deputy director of the Phu Yen Police, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday that police in Tuy An District seized the vehicle and handed down the fine on D.Q.H, a 16-year-old resident in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province.
At the police station, H. admitted his violations and promised not to repeat such acts.
Earlier, a video showing a teenager using his legs to ride a motorcycle and wearing no helmet went viral on social media.
Many netizens criticized the boy’s stunt as he defied the law and caused danger to other commuters.
