A seventh-grader from a school in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City has been hospitalized after using an e-cigarette.
A leader of the administration in Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3 told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Tuesday that local police were investigating the case.
Preliminary information showed that a male ninth-grade student from Le Quy Don Middle School brought an e-cigarette pod onto the premises and passed it to a seventh-grade student also attending the same school.
The seventh grader became dizzy after using the e-cigarette, so he was rushed to the school’s medical room and then Children's Hospital 2 in District 1.
Police in Vo Thi Sau Ward later rushed to the school to investigate the case.
Previously, many parents of students at the school expressed concern upon learning that the seventh grader had been hospitalized after reportedly using drugs provided by the ninth grader.
However, local authorities have clarified that the younger student used an e-cigarette, although it remains uncertain whether the e-cigarette contained drugs.
