The Tinh Bien - An Giang International Fair 2024 opened in An Giang Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, on Monday, boasting hundreds of stalls run by 120 businesses from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
The event is being held at Xuan To Industrial Park in Tinh Bien Town, organized by the An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center in collaboration with the town’s administration and the Ho Chi Minh City-based International Advertising and Trade Promotion Joint Stock Company.
This annual fair will last until Sunday, featuring more than 300 booths of about 120 enterprises from the three countries.
Vietnamese businesses taking part in the fair come from more than 10 provinces and cities, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Long An, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, and An Giang, among others.
They are joined by enterprises hailing from Laos’ Champasak Province and the two Cambodian provinces of Takeo and Kandal.
The week-long fair boasts a wide range of commodities including agricultural and aquatic products, cultivars, consumer goods, food products, household appliances, footwear, garments, technology products, machinery and equipment, electronic goods, wooden furniture and interior decorations, construction materials, agricultural chemicals, and others.
Particularly, Vietnamese businesses provide fairgoers with unique items belonging to the ‘One Commune, One Product’ (OCOP) program, initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2008 to promote production of typical and high-quality products of each commune, thus boosting rural economic development in Vietnam.
Addressing the fair-opening ceremony on Monday evening, Le Van Phuoc, deputy chairman of the An Giang administration, said that the fair opens opportunities for domestic enterprises to introduce new and highly competitive products, promote images and brands, and seek more business partners to expand markets and boost exports.
He added that the annual fair, held for the past 16 years, has generally contributed to promoting diplomatic ties and trade relations between the province and Cambodia, Laos, and other ASEAN countries.
Yong Sovathana, deputy governor of Takeo Province, extended his deep thanks to the An Giang administration for inviting Cambodian businesses to display 10 booths at the fair to introduce their diverse products to Vietnamese consumers, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
