An interprovincial bus plowed into a group of motorcycles stopping at a red light on National Highway 1 in Ben Luc District, Long An Province, southern Vietnam on Thursday afternoon, killing one and injuring several motorcyclists.
Provincial police announced on Thursday evening that they were investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
A preliminary investigation showed that the interprovincial bus was heading from Ho Chi Minh City to neighboring Long An Province at 5:00 pm on Thursday.
While the vehicle was making its way down a slope from Ben Luc Bridge, it slammed into a series of motorbikes waiting for the green light at the nearby intersection.
The bus stopped on the sidewalk, trapping a motorcycle underneath.
The deceased was identified as Nguyen Duy K., a 21-year-old resident of Tien Giang Province, a neighbor of Long An.
