-- Nineteen students of a high school in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Gia Lai were hospitalized on Sunday with symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, and slight fever after a meal at the school a day earlier, a local official said on Monday.

-- Authorities and residents in a ward in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam on Monday afternoon found the bodies of two siblings aged eight and 12 in a reservoir at a resettlement project, the ward government reported the same day.

-- The Department of Transport in Quang Ninh Province has tasked relevant units with verifying a report that many tourists were abandoned on an island in world-renowned Ha Long Bay on Sunday, a leader of the department told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday.

-- Vietnamese national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct air route between Vietnam and the Philippines, making it the first Vietnamese airline to establish a direct connection to the island nation.

-- Thailand's conglomerate Siam Cement Group (SCG) said on Monday that it had produced a new cement product in Vietnam with carbon emissions during the production falling by 20 percent compared with the production of normal cement.
