Vietnam Railways has introduced a new payment option for international travelers, allowing them to purchase train tickets through e-wallets like Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Apple Pay since Tuesday.
The introduction is aimed at simplifying the ticket-buying process for foreign passengers, who previously had to rely on travel agencies and tourism websites because of difficulty in using foreign bank cards on the Vietnam Railways website.
With the new e-wallet system, international travelers can now conveniently buy tickets online and pay from their home countries.
Earlier this month, Vietnam Railways also launched a payment gateway through VNPAY, enabling the use of international cards issued by foreign banks.
In addition to the e-wallet option, Vietnam Railways has installed automatic ticket vending machines at key tourist locations, including the Post Office in Nha Trang, the Saigon Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat Station in Lam Dong Province, and the Quang Nam Tourist Support Center.
These machines feature large screens, user-friendly interfaces, and are available in both Vietnamese and English, making it easier for both locals and tourists to purchase tickets.
The vending machines offer several benefits, such as saving time, reducing the risks associated with carrying cash, and passengers to choose their preferred seats, book various routes, and apply discounts.
