Vietnam will host a professional tour for golfers, as part of the world-renowned Legends Tour, for the first time in late November.
Golf tournaments will take place in Nha Trang, a famous beach city in south-central Vietnam, between November 26 and December 2.
Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 will feature 60 legendary golfers who won multiple international coveted trophies such as former U.S. Open champion Michael Camphell, 1991 Master champion Ian Woosnam, Paul McGinley, the winners of four victories on the European Tour, and Mark James, who claimed 18 victories on the European Tour.
Between January and August, Vietnam saw a rapid tourism recovery and is getting back on track. The country has been named among the leading destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, and Asia’s best golf destinations, Nguyen Trung Khanh, head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, told a press briefing held on Friday to introduce the professional tour for golf players in Vietnam.
Golf is not only a game for entertainment, but also a type of service generating high revenue, said Khanh.
Golf courts are a big plus for a tourist site, he added.
“The tour is expected to drive up the golf industry and motivate golf course owners to improve the quality of golf services, contributing to introducing Vietnam as one of the world’s must-visit golfing destinations,” Khanh underlined.
Phil Harrison, CEO of the Legends Tour, said that he was glad to see one more place as part of the Legends Tour, which is Europe’s professional tour for golfers.
The Tour was founded in 1992.
Organizing the tour in Vietnam will help spur tourism in the country and popularize the Southeast Asian nation’s splendid land, people and culture features to international friends.
