Vietnam have a shot at early AFF semifinal berth with Singapore game

Vietnam are scheduled to take on hosts Singapore at 7:30 pm on Friday (Vietnam time) in the group stage of the 2022 AFF Championship.
The game will kick off at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore and will be broadcast live on the FPT Play platform and VTV Can Tho channel from 7:30 pm (Vietnam time).
The Golden Stars took the top spot of Group B after their second successive victory in the tournament on Tuesday, while Singapore, who beat Laos 2-0 earlier the same day, rank third.
A win on Friday evening will award Vietnam an early ticket to the semifinals.
Group B also features Malaysia in the second place, Myanmar in fourth, and Laos at the bottom.
In Group A, Thailand sit atop the table, followed by Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Brunei.
The group phase of the 2022 AFF Cup will continue until January 3 with group winners and runners-up advancing to the semifinals, which will be played on January 6 and 9 on a home-and-away basis.
The final will be held over two legs on January 13 and 16.
