Vietnam won 136 gold medals to secure the top spot in the medal tally as the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia came to the final official day of competition on Tuesday.

This is the first time Vietnam has finished first at a SEA Games edition not held on its home ground in the event’s 64-year history.

On Tuesday, the nation grabbed 12 more gold medals in wrestling, kickboxing, weightlifting, Judo, boat racing, fencing, and dance sport, raising its medal count to 136 gold, 105 silver, and 114 bronze medals.

Thailand came second with 108 gold, 96 silver, and 108 bronze medals and Indonesia followed with 86 gold, 81 silver, and 109 bronze medals.

Host Cambodia ranked fourth with 81 gold, 74 silver, and 126 bronze medals.

The Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee is set to hold the closing ceremony of the biennial multi-sports extravaganza at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh on Wednesday evening.
