This year’s Vietnamese version of the “Dancing with the stars” reality show is set to air on VTV3 starting Jan 4, 2014.
The show, which will be broadcast at 9pm every Saturday, features nine local showbiz celebrities and a famed footballer.
Pairing with them in the dances are foreign professional dancers, most of who joined the local show in the previous years.
This year’s jury includes two local dancers and choreographers, a foreign dancer and guest jurors which change every week.
This is the first year the local show has applied the rule of Confrontation and Dance-duel. Unlike in previous seasons in which a couple was eliminated if they scored the lowest, this year’s pairs will compete against one another in each round, with the result combined from viewers’ votes and the jury’s scores.
The two lowest-scoring pairs will each perform a dance-duel on the same tune to decide on who will go on to the next round.
“Dancing with the Stars” is the name of several international television series based on the format of the British TV series “Strictly Come Dancing”. The format has currently been licensed to over 42 countries and territories. The series grew into the world's most popular television show in 2006 and 2007, according to magazine Television Business International.
The show debuted in Vietnam in 2010.
