The sixth annual “Balade en France,” the biggest French cuisine and wine festival in Vietnam, will return to Ho Chi Minh City later this month, the organizer said during a press conference on Tuesday.

This year, “Balade en France” will take place from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm on October 23 and 24 at the Hotel Equatorial at 242 Tran Binh Trong Street, District 5.

The event will showcase such delicious French foods as crepe, oyster, foie gras, ham, ice-cream, chocolate, and cheese from more than 30 representatives including French restaurants and brands.

The two-day festival is expected to attract 2,000 participants, after welcoming 1,750 guests last year, of which 70 percent were Vietnamese.

Tickets bought in advance cost VND350,000 (US$15.6), and are VND450,000 ($20) at the door for adults, and VND200,000 ($9) for kids under 14.

Children under five years old can enter for free.

Visitors will buy an entrance ticket that will grant them access to the fest, and then be able to buy coupons worth VND20,000 (less than $1) each at one of the numerous points of sales, and exchange these tickets for food, beverages, or desserts.

People can purchase authentic French products, which will also be displayed at the event, to take home at an average price of VND20,000 to VND80,000 ($3.6).

Throughout the event, attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy many art and entertainment activities including live music performance, lucky draw, games, a photo booth, and live painting.

All funds from the activities will go to Poussiere de vie, an independent organization helping Vietnam’s most disadvantaged people in Ho Chi Minh City and Kon Tum Province.

“Balade en France” is jointly organized every year in Ho Chi Minh City by the CCIFV, Sopexa, and Hotel Equatorial with the support of the French Consulate General in Vietnam and the French Ministry of Agriculture.

Besides strengthening the relationship and friendship between France and Vietnam, “Balade en France” also aims at promoting French culture through food, and increasing the visibility and fame of French products in the eyes of Vietnamese people.
